According to his back story, Nicholai is from Moscow and served in Spetsnaz before joining the UBCS. He entered Raccoon City as part of an extraction team. When Carlos decides to try and save a woman on the roof, they get stranded in the city: "Expendable Assests"according to Carlos. He went along with Carlos to Raccoon City Junior High School to try and rescue Angela Ashford. Unfortunately, Nicholai dies saving Jill and Angela when he is overrun and mauled to death by zombie dogs.
